I am a Senior Research Scientist in the
Atwater Research Group at
Caltech. I am a photonics R&D scientist with more than
15 years of experience conceiving and developing nanophotonic and electro-optic devices, from
fundamental physical concepts through electromagnetic and multiphysics modeling, fabrication-aware
design, and model-to-experiment validation. My technical focus areas include active nanophotonics
and metasurfaces, computational electromagnetics, electro-optic systems, optical-waveguide design,
multiphysics simulation, and integrated photonics.
At Caltech, I have contributed to collaborative R&D with Hamamatsu Photonics, Samsung Electronics, Sony, Seurat Technologies, LLNL, NASA, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. I am an inventor or co-inventor on 11 issued U.S. patents. I received my PhD in physics from Institute for Physical Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia (Ashtarak) and the Université de Bourgogne (Dijon, France), working on the formation of molecules in ultracold atomic gases and Bose–Einstein condensates.
